“Blessed and worthy of praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ”
How Has God Blessed Us?
Do you realize how Blessed you are? In our main text Paul is praising God for the spiritual blessings he already had. Look at this partial list of blessings mentioned in the first two chapters of Ephesians. We have been adopted as God’s children (Ephesians 1:5), we have redemption through Jesus’ blood and the forgiveness of our sins (Ephesians 1:7), we have obtained an inheritance (Ephesians 1:11), we have been sealed with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13), been made fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God (Ephesians 2:19), have become a holy temple in the Lord (Ephesians 2:21) and a habitation of God (Ephesians 2:22), etc. It is only through a relationship with Jesus that we receive these blessings. It’s simple, if we don’t have Jesus, we don’t have the blessings. All these blessings that are mentioned come to us through the work of Jesus on the cross.
We’ve Got It All
God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing. No blessing is lacking, overlooked, or held back! We as believers, we’ve got it all. 2 Peter 1:3 affirms that God “seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue;” (ASV). Peter was saying that everything we need comes through knowledge. That’s because Jesus has already given us everything we could ever need when we became born again. Faith is already present (Galatians 5:22-23). Prosperity is already given; we just need to learn the laws that govern God’s prosperity and cooperate with them. Healing has already been deposited on the inside of us (1 Peter 2:24). We must acknowledge what we have and learn how to use it.
He Chose Us
Ephesians 1:4a says,
“Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own]” AMPC.
As individuals we all want to be loved, accepted and to belong. To be valued. We may not get such things from other people but we can get them from God. Take time to meditate on Ephesians 1:4 and say this out loud, “I belong to GOD!” Whether you know it or not God loves you. If you don’t know that, search the scriptures about His love till you learn to receive the love of God. He loves you so much that He died a gruesome death for YOU. Now that’s love.
Raising From the Dead Power
Some years ago, I was invited to emcee and teach a workshop at a women’s conference in Colorado. At the time, I was attacked in my body with a constant cough. I coughed all night long, so much that my abs were sore. The night before the conference I was trying to figure out how I could emcee and teach while not coughing. This way of thinking showed that I was beginning to accept the cough, allowing it to stay. Suddenly, I flipped the switch in my mind; I got angry and the Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance Matthew 11:12 and Ephesians 1:19.
I began to speak out loud, “I have raising from the dead power living on the inside of me, cough you cease NOW in the name of Jesus. Body, I put you on notice, anything that does not support life and health is cut off from its life source in Jesus’ name.”
At that moment and all through the conference I did not cough.
Don’t Settle for Less
Don’t settle for less than God’s best in your life. As believers we must realize the blessings that have been given to us in Christ. Christ died so we could have it all. We don’t need to get something new; we just need a revelation of what we already have.
