Know and Take Your Position In Christ

“You shall not need to fight in this battle; take your positions, stand still, and see the deliverance of the Lord [Who is] with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Fear not nor be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”

This verse captures a profound moment in the scripture where God’s reassurance to His people instills hope in uncertain times. It speaks to us to trust in God’s protection and intervention during difficult or chaotic times in our life.

In my prayer time a few weeks ago this scripture kept rolling over in my spirit. I encourage you not to just focus on this verse above but read the entire account in 2 Chronicles 20.

What Is Your Position?

I believe that the Holy Spirit was allowing me to focus on these scriptures in 2 Chronicles 20 because there was so much going on for me at that time. So many tasks all at once, to the point that it was almost overwhelming. In that moment Jesus whispered a question to me, He asked,

“What is your position? As I pondered this question, Jesus further explained what He meant. He said, “What is your position in all that you are facing, as it relates to these projects? Are you positioned in a seat of victory or being a victim? Are you positioned as defeated or more than a conqueror? You are functioning as if you don’t know your position in Me.”

I thought about what I had heard and I shared it with my husband Greg. I told him that I realized that for a split second, my focus was off. I was not operating as, A new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), Redeemed (Galatians 3:13), Delivered (Colossians 1:13), Set free (Romans 6:18), and sanctified and deeply loved by the King of Kings!!!

The Great I AM

In our text, Jehoshaphat, the King of Judah, receives alarming news of a great army approaching to wage war against him and his people. King Jehoshaphat, aware of his limitations, turns to God in prayer and seeks guidance. In response, God sends a message through a prophet, reminding the people that they will not have to fight this battle. Jesus reminded me, by basically asking, have you forgotten who you are? More importantly who I AM!

Take A Position of Faith and Readiness

The main message here in the text is trust and surrender. When the odds seem insurmountable, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, like I was that day. In these times we may think that running away is our only solution, but this verse reminds all of us that sometimes, the most courageous thing we can do is stand still and trust in God’s salvation. God is instructing us to post ourselves in a position of faith and readiness, a stance of confidence and peace in the mist of chaos.

Expectation Ignites Hope In Our Hearts

Jesus does not call us to confront the battle with our strength but to watch what He will do in the battle. When we are faced with challenges, we should expect to see God’s hand at work in our lives. Expectation ignites hope within our hearts. Our assurance lies in the truth that He fights for us, allowing us to witness victories that would otherwise seem impossible.

“Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable and receives the impossible.” – Corrie Ten Boom

You Are Not Alone

Our main scripture is such a powerful reminder of God’s active presence in our battles. It offers comfort and strength. The next time you face overwhelming odds, remember that you are not alone. You can stand firm, preparing your heart and mind for God’s victory.

No problem is beyond the reach of God’s powerful hand for His children. He has promised to take care of us (Philippians 4:19), make good plans for us (Jeremiah 29:11), and loves us beyond measure (Romans 8:37–39). Be encouraged today, keep your eyes focused on Jesus. Stay on course, know and take your position.
